Update: Blog and Etc.

Updates and Etc.

So last night as I pushed the button “Publish” on my latest post about Day2 of POT5 Legacy , my wordpress database decided to crash, meaning the webhosting I currently use had a crash somewhere on their server. I pay for my webhosting monthly so their support is fairly decent. I log in to check on my ticket and see if they can help restore the database to a previous version and I get the infamous message. “We are sorry that we can not help you. You can export and import you’re posts , and etc via the Exporter/Importer for wordpress plug in. Then we suggest you delete the site, and reinstall either via FTP or our script installer. Again we are sorry that we are unable to help you.” I mean really I pay $6.99 a month of unlimited, and your fuck up causes me to reinstall wordpress yet again. So I did just that, backed up my posts, and etc. Now I’m starting a fresh wordpress install, reinstated all my posts, comments, and images, or at least I hope.

New Theme

So instead of going with one of my common freebie gamer type themes I decide to use the Parabola theme that I found on one of my other blogs, and decided it was a simple clean, fresh theme to use. Plus I can customize it to my liking and etc. Yes I prefer the darker blogs due to my light blindness issues I have from white backgrounds and black text. So that is the current theme I have going on right now. I may change it in a month or two, I like to keep things fresh. But that is the topic of new theme. If you have any suggestions on what type of theme I would like and what not, please drop a message in the comment section and I’ll check it out.

New Plugin’s & Etc.

So I’ve decided this time around to add Disquis to my comments plug-ins for wordpress all because I am a member of it and etc, and it’s just easier for a lot of people I believe. I had a problem with a friend not being able to log into my blog to drop a comment due to Jetpack. I installed it to help me battle those damn spam attacks I get from time to time. At one time I had over 100 spam messages dropped in my Akismet folder that I just deleted them at one time. I hate spam and well I don’t wanna grow a larger penis, I mean come on now, I don’t even have one why would I wanna grow a larger one, nor do I want a new pair of Rayban sunglasses. I just find it hilarious that they would post stuff like that on a fan base blog for a video game. Ugh, some people or bots just don’t care. I really hate spam, and not the kind you can eat either. Many probably do not even know there is a by-meat product out there that is called “Spam” …

I’ve also added a buddy press to this site, I’ll get around to figuring it all out sooner or later. Just right now well……..

I can’t remember all my links of SWTOR Blogs and Podcasts I had, but I will find them again, just give me time, if you believe I had you linked in my blog roll please also drop a message with your link, and I’ll get it added asap. Anyways I need to go play for a bit now. I realize working and maintaining a blog is hard work, but right now I’m done working, I need to play damn it!! :p

Advice I’ve recently given in SW:ToR

So yesterday while running on my latest Empire character, I created a Rattataki Imperial Agent who I’m running as a LS Agent. It’s an interesting story line to say the least. I finished up Chapter 1 last night and started on Chapter 2, no I will not be posting spoilers for those that read this blog that probably haven’t even  started one, or hasn’t finished one. I’m not that type of person. So while on Nar Shadda I seen another person in general chat asking this.

Q: What story line is better for agent? Dark or Light?

Answers given were vary and some where rather rude.

I responded in general chat with this.

A: I have done Dark Side, Neutural, and now working on Light Side. Don’t try to think of it as terms in LS or DS for the agent story. Play how you would normally act if you were a police officer or something in that nature. Also many people will give you false advice, or just troll you. The best answer to your own question at hand is play it how you want to play, not how someone else wants you to play it.

Their reply.

Reply: That is honestly the best advice I’ve gotten so far. I’ve had many people tell me DS is better than LS Agent, but coming from someone that plays their way. It’s nice to see someone give an answer like this.

Replies came in from the trolls of course saying to L2P Noob. Sorry but I’m not a noob, I’ve been apart of the SW:ToR game now since 01.14.13 so a little over 2 years now. I’m not a founder, I’m not a pre launch. I am just myself.

Now while heading back to DK on my Agent Class Mission I see in general chat a question about.

Q: Why can’t I exit to DK through my stronghold?

A: all varied and all pretty messed up. Sometimes the trolls are strong there. Specially in DK Chat. I just offered this advice in an instant message , sorry to me they are IM’s not those damn whispers.

My Personal Message: Do not listen to those boneheads, they will say or do anything to upset your game play. No you do NOT need a ship to exit to DK at all from your stronghold. If you haven’t finished anything on your starter planet whether it be Korriban or Hutta, you won’t be able to come to DK Until you get the mission quest “Catch a shuttle to DK”, Apparently they just want to troll you and make you think you’ll never get to DK until you have a ship, but you don’t get your ship until the very end of the planet in your personal story mission.

Their reply: Why do some people do that to new players?

R: Because apparently they don’t have the common sense to not troll someone online. They believe they are better than everyone and get their kicks out of doing it to new players.

TR: Someone on my starter planet told me I could bypass the shuttle thing by going to my stronghold and then exiting to DK from there.

MR: They were wrong and did that to troll you. Making you think the game was broken or something along those lines. I have no clue why people do the things they do. But your best bet is to place that person on ignore, and you won’t have to deal with them again, nor will you ever be grouped up with them in group finder for flashpoints and etc.

TR: Thank you for the help, you’ve been nice to me even when others seems to be just rude and ignorant.

MR: You are most welcome. Enjoy your game and play it the way you want to play, do not let anyone tell you any different.

Now the other thing I witnessed and well it has become a huge pet peeve for me. Guild recruitment every 5-10 minutes. I understand people don’t want to be squelched for posting the same message over and over again, but while on Korriban and Hutta, I seen a few people post every 10 seconds. Always trying to up another guild or what not. Even seen one reply with (No interviews needed like other guild) Wow talk about being a little rude on that. If you play on a RP server, yes you will see RP guilds recruiting to increase their ranks or get new players that want to learn how to RP and etc., but there comes a point where not spamming general chat is the best policy out there. Let people know that your guild is looking, but don’t write a paragraph long statement on why they should join your guild. Give them a few pieces of information along with a way to talk to you privately. If I had a guild I would post this once an hour in general chat.

<Insert guild name> is currently looking for new players. Small RP/PVE community looking to increase friendships an etc. If interested in more information send me a /w Insert Character Name, and we can talk privately there.

Now to me that kind of recruitment would spark an interest or two in some players while many others will ignore and laugh at it. But I bet you could catch more players with posts like that instead of these ones.

<Insert Guild Name> Is looking for active players, we offer xp boosts, rep boosts, also have a SH , Flagship, we do PVP/PVE/RP events daily and weekly. Must be 18+ , have to be active in the guild at all times, We will do an IC interview , start your SW experience with us. We are a friendly guild that has helpful people on at all times.

That post takes up a big chunk of space in those small windows for chat. So if you’re talking about something in gen chat and that post comes across, you can and will probably miss something someone else asked you without you realizing it. We know scrolling in that tiny ass window is not feasible at times. The chat window is by far the worse I’ve seen in terms of chat windows. Even GW2 has a better chat window then SW:ToR. Which I went back to GW2 last night for a bit, but that will come in another post here later on this week. I haven’t decided if I’m going to try and bounce between the two MMO’s yet but well I had  to see how the graphics were in GW2 since I updated to Win 10 a while back.

I had recently thought about making a strictly Imperial Agent guild type format, but decided against it yet again. I want to own my own guild, and build from there. I’m not cut out for these other types of guilds because I don’t use voice applications while yes it may be easy to work with while doing raids and etc., but I’m just not into talking over people at all. I had enough of that in second life. Plus I have a lot of background noise with living in the middle of a town that has cars/trucks/trains etc running so much, not to mention people on the sidewalks yelling at each other. Just not good for anyone else to hear.

I even seen a question last night in gen chat on Nar Shadda about reusable stims and medpacks.

Q: What type of reusable stims/medpacks can I get?

A: List of purple stims and medpacks were given but not telling this person that they had to be a biochemist to even use them.

Q: what about low level reusables?

A: Only if you are willing to pay GTN Prices.

My reply: Only ones I’ve ever seen use reusable ones are those that craft the Biochem it self in their crew skills, seems these people decided to leave that out. If you are not a biochemist in crew skills, you can’t use them. when you hover over them they say only usable by those in biochem skill.

After my response to that I ended up with a lot of flaming hate messages which I promptly ignored because I knew they were the crafters trolling to sale their items. They are only interested in making credits off new players who do not know anything about crafting at all. So yeah I stopped that flaming hate real quick and ignored it all.

It is what I am best at. Pissing off the trolls and those that wanna sale things to everyone at higher rates, but don’t want to explain only certain things can be used via skills, classes, and etc. So yeah I’m the bad person there for spoiling their fun.

Another peeve I have is seeing this line in gen chat no matter where you are.

<Players name:> I will pay you 300k Credits for clicking my referral link. you get 7 free days of sub time, I get CC and you get a pack full of goodies. Just use my referral link and I’ll give the credits to you as soon as you do.

To me that screams SCAM!! Not saying that all will be like that, but I’ve seen enough in gen chat do that person a favor in hopes of getting 300k in credits and not getting them at all. Now they sit on someone’s referral list getting all the goodies each month they stay subscribed, and all that person got was 7 free days, and a perferred bundle pack that well once you go with a sub, only good thing in it is the additional 10 slots for inventory. Rest well I just sale at a vendor for 1,000 credits. To start buying the right stims I need to play. Speaking of referral links going wrong.

Back in July I had a few people sign up through my referal link and now it shows  thisStar Wars- The Old Republic - Friends of Star Wars™- The Old Republic™ 2015-09-06 12-48-42

I had thought about calling customer service, but just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Yes my favorite thing, “Haven’t gotten around to it yet”, Oh well that is enough typing for now, time to go play SW:ToR for a few hours since it’s quiet still. When hubby comes home, there goes my quiet time!!

Scams and Beggars

This post may upset some, but I’m sorry I’ve been seeing it a lot in the last few months or so since I’ve been bouncing servers all across the US grid in SW:ToR. I’m not sure how it is on the EU servers, but on the US servers well I’m sick and tired of seeing it already. By that I mean the infamous “Join our awesome guild we offer blah, blah, blah” Then of course there is also the infamous credit spammer mailers once again. I can leave a character off for a week or so and log into a bunch of “Spam for this MMO site ” and it’s becoming a burden and making me regret even thinking of logging into the game anymore. My ignore list is becoming a realm of unknown names and etc from these spammers. Sure I report them as spam, a ticket gets opened, and sits there in my help area for weeks on end. I understand that it takes time to investigate all these tickets and what not, but seriously ? Do they need to open up a ticket for a credit spammer? Couldn’t they just well have it listed as spam, and then not put it in as an open ticket. The guild notices in general chat are one thing, but now I’m seeing a whole new area that well makes me think of beggars, and those are the ones that will purposely try to offer someone credits just for clicking their referral link. I know some are legit as I’ve talked with a few via privately and what not, only because I was curious as to see why all of a sudden people are doing this, and it’s because they want the cartel coins without having to put money into the game, understandable and very honest, others want the toys and etc. That too is a very honest answer, but mostly some just do it out of spite so that the ones that have clicked a referral link can whine on the forums about how they’ve been ripped off by not getting promised credits for clicking the links. Sorry there guys, but unless you know that person. It all boils down to this. Take everything on the internet with a grain of salt, if sounds to good to be true, 9 times out of 10 it is too good to be true. Now me recently I have my referral link here on the blog, also in my signature area on the forums. Hell to be honest I forgot I even did that a while back, and I don’t pay much attention to it, but over the last few days I’ve gotten 3 people that used my referral link, and I appreciate that because I didn’t ask them, they just did it to do it. So out of this deal I’ve gotten a new speeder account wide, and two new pets. Not that I collect that stuff, but still felt pretty good to see that some people have used my link and I didn’t beg them too or anything. They just did it. I even seen someone in the guild I belong to on the EH asking for people to click a referral link, all cause they want the cartel coins. I was asked, but told them I had clicked months ago, and never once let my subscription lapse once so the friends link I clicked, is getting the bonus coins each month that I stay subbed, doesn’t bother me, just is strange that all of a sudden people are onto this big thing. But I’ve also learned that while yeah it’s good to advertise your referral links, and guilds and what not, but not good when you do it every 5 minutes to avoid the “Spam” detection that Bioware now has implented into the whispers and what not. For me seeing that spewed around my general chat, well it is annoying, I only really keep general chat open for those times I feel like helping out a new player with their mission, or grouping up for a heroic or two. But I can’t see that when I’m seeing “Please click my referral link, I’ll pay you 200,000 credits.”, or “Please join our guild as we are currently rebuilding our system and what not.” I mean come on, do you people really have to spam general chat with that garbage every few minutes, GIVE IT A DAMN REST, if people want to help you out, they’ll let you know, you don’t have to become a damn spammer that well in all honesty will probably land in about 5% of peoples ignore lists. Then what will you do if you group up and can’t find anyone, because well you got ignored for being a spammer. I just don’t really get it anymore. I decided that I would take a least 24-36 hours off and away from the game in general, all because I am little bored at the moment with it. Not that I’ve forgotten about it, but well you know RL stuff came up and I have to deal with that once in a while, but the spamming in general chat really has me wondering about it anymore. Are people so desperate that they literally have to beg people now to do anything? I even saw on one of the servers someone paying 3 people from 30k to 15k in credits to help them create a guild. I mean really has this become the big thing now in SW:ToR. Bribing others to get things done. I was gonna offer it on the chance since not all my characters belong to a guild, just to help the poor person out, if I’m do something like that, I don’t expect anything in return. Hell I helped out one guild mate a while back with credits, and they were offering me everything you could think of, and I just told them  to “Pay it forward” , meaning, do something nice for some total random person that day or week, whatever. That is how I use to live my life , paying it forward to another after someone has done something for me, but in this day an age, everyone wants something for anything you do. So I stopped helping out like that, but from time to time I will, just not all the time. Anyways enjoy your day/night where ever in this world you maybe. I’m off to watch a few movies, then try this thing they call sleep.

Twisted Tuesday’s Thoughts of Randomness

Before it’s even said, yes I know the title is a little strange, yet alone that Tuesday is almost over and is over for some, but still none the less I decided I would try my hand at night blogging. Usually after I’m done playing SWTOR for the night. It honestly relaxes me so I may try to sleep better at nights. Anyways my thoughts today are on a few subjects.

1st up the latest ingame event.

Nar Shaddaa Nightlife

I decided to try this today and I was not impressed with it. The planet now lags worse then ever, and let’s face it. It’s a credit sink hole for those that has millions of Creds, and so forth, not to mention now you’ll have Gold farmers Aka Spammers bugging us even more now through ingame emails or spamming gen chat with white text, or from what I’ve read on the forums, so yeah they just opened up the door for the spammers to come in full force now. But that isn’t the point of this topic. I’m just not all that happy with it. I’ve tried it with Daequis who is just a solo lvl 60 sitting in his stronghold contemplating on where to gather more spirits, and more power. Always the power hungry inquistitor he is. And what gets me is they opened this up for low levels of I believe is 15. I mean come on now, what low level noobie is gonna have the credits to spend at this event? , Kingpin Coin costs 50K Credits, while the smugglers one cost 1K Credits. Unless you’re like so many other players with multiple alts, or spend the time to sale stuff on the GTN at outrageous prices, not many will be able to play it. I noticed a lot of “Darth’s and Master’s” there this morning, along with the other Class names you get when you finish chapt 3 of whatever class. I didn’t really see to many Jedi’s, Knights, and so forth. Unless they just never changed their title in game, which I’ve seen a lot not do, but still when I hovered my arrow over them, they popped as lvl 60 or somewhere in that field. I’m sorry, I tried the Nightlife event, and will not be doing it again. It’s a waste of my time, and a credit sink in my opinion.

Now onto my other randomness thought of the day.

Role-playing and what it means to you

Now this topic will probably cause a lot of heated debates, but let me remind those that read this blog. This is just my opinion on things, doesn’t always seem to sit right with some , and so forth, but these are my thoughts as I have them. So I put them out there in a form of a blog. If you don’t want to read any further, trust me I understand and will not get upset that this part of the thoughts was closed out. It is a gaming blog with thoughts, opinions, and so forth right? , well now that is cleared up. This is my latest pet peeve. I understand that some may find RP as a miltary type guild is , can, and should be fun, but let me make my point clear here. I am not against these types of guilds, just well having friends called into active duty, living 60 miles away from a crash site on 9/11, you can see why I wouldn’t want to be approached by these types. I resepect our men and women who go into battle. So when I see guilds on EH calling “Heavy RP Miltary guild seeking” it makes me wonder, do these people honestly know or understand what they are trying to represent in a form of a guild in SWTOR which is a fictional story in itself. Do they support those same men and women that have fought for our freedom, and that is a heavy price to pay for it in itself. I’m not trying to degrade these guilds, it is just a thought I had today while I was contacted by one on my new alt. Which is shocking since I’ve just opted to give up on PVP, and so forth. I’ve tried it, and just realized it’s not for me, but that is another topic I’ll cover here shortly as well on this twisted thought tuesday. But back to the guilds I see a lot of them advertising as “We’re the best guild you’ll ever need” and so forth, but yet that brings me back to  the questions of “How can you make that claim as a RP guild  to be the best?” , “What would make you better than say, “So-S0 RP Guild” that is brand new and seeking players?” , “Does your guild have a back story, and how each character that joins said guild play into factor?” ….these are just the types of questions that pop into my head when I see ads in gen chat about all these “Heavy RP guilds ” Recruiting.  Don’t get me wrong the idea of having XP boosts, and Rep Boosts are nice and all, but overall to me joining a guild should be something that comes along the lines of knowing these people for a while, having a trial area for new members, helping new members, and so forth. Not just end-game content which a lot of these guilds I’ve seen are so much more interested in now. Hell I just don’t know what to think. When I use to Rp in Second life, my character who was a Vampire had an entire back story. I was going to convert the linked section into a SWTOR Fan fiction blog, but decided not too , because that was a lot of hard work I did put into that blog. That is how the birth of this blog came to life. But for me RP has to have all the elements of a good back story before I’ll just jump into any type of RP with anyone. Maybe I have to high expectations in what I’m wanting and etc ingame.

PVP= Is it for everyone?

In a nutshell , NO it’s not for everyone. I recently went over to the TRE server and started a whole new legacy just for PVP and some PVE in between leveling a new toon, but only to find myself ever so bored with PVP all together. I thought going there would help me since I’m cluess about PVP , but after a few matches, and helpful advice, just decided that it isn’t for me. What will happened to the TRE Legacy over there? Not entirely sure. I’ll keep it, but just not going for PVP, I’m to stuck on the US servers and so forth to really think about EU Servers. I just feel bad now because I was looking forward to getting the help and so forth only to find out. I really didn’t enjoy it after all. I thought I would, but let’s face it, my bad experiences in the past, and after reading all the forums  that say “PVP is better than PVE”, well to be honest has left a permanent sour taste in my mouth so to speak. Not to mention all the toxic attitudes that tend to come with the terrority for PVP just left a bad image to me all together. I tried it ,and found that I really don’t like it all that much, and figured just to leave well enough alone, besides on the US Servers, I have legacy unlocks that I just can not live without, and have decided to stay where my server status doesn’t read “102 ms ” on a server. For me guess it’s because I’m across seas, and lag is always higher than here. Even though on Eastern Servers I get anywhere from 19 – 30 MS and when I choose a Western Server I get about the same. But it works better for me on lag, and I’m able to control a lot of things too.

Naming a character…..

Another thing I was asked recently through a tell ingame was “How do you get your unique names?”, I don’t choose just a random name for each species I play in SWTOR as a matter of fact. I use a name generator that I found online one day while looking for cool sith pureblood species names, and I’ve kept that site ever since. It’s listed in the RP links on the main page, but here I’ll even be nice to link it to here as well. Now how to get to SWTOR Generators, well you could scroll the page and find it , or just go over the hover link and wait until you’re directly over “Pop Culture ->Star Wars (SWTOR) Races->Then species you are looking for. The person who made the website has a lot of name generators for all games , even GW2, and so forth. But that is how I made all my characters names and how I still make them, you’ll be surprize at how random they are, and you can alter them like I did for a bunch , I combined two parts to make one name that I liked and no one else in SWTOR had or has at the time. Enjoy the read folks.

Well there you have twisted tuesday’s thoughts in a nutshell. Enjoy your day/night where ever you may be in this wonderful world of ours.!!

Spammers go away!!!

Credit spammers and how they are ruining the game.

Like the image says above. Spammers stay out. As most of us in SW:TOR has seen recently a new take on these credit selling fools has taken shape. By that I mean, they now are able to whisper/tell to use about their lowest prices in the US, and their website’s link. F2P MMO’s all have these annoying tards running around, spewing their spam in general chat, but now in SW:TOR they do it all the ways they can find. They don’t even have names, they have just random letters , but I’ve found a pattern on some of the credit theives that makes a little sense. I spotted a group on Ord Mantell that well go me thinking when I rolled a trooper because I did not have one on the Shadowlands Server.

Image below.

swtor 2015-05-14 16-10-32-89In the image above, I’ve spotted a group. I’ve also noticed that they have “GSG” at the end of their random letters. Interesting to say the least. Could this possibly help us out during starter planets to find these groups of 4, and be able to throw them on ignore. I stood there for a good 15 minutes, and they all did the same thing, and when those beasts respawned they all attacked the same way. Now I know some will say that’s not frowned upon, but I don’t know, it just seems to me that they are all F2P and they do the same thing over and over again. Not sure about the Whispers we now recieved, but this has enabled me to just shut them off in general now. I understand that credit farming is something that every MMO has, and if you’re F2P it’s gonna happen? But don’t we , the SWTOR community that sinks hard earned money into a game subscription have some sort of protection from this? I believe we should, and we don’t. All we get is “Ignore them, report them.” I understand the more we report them, the easier it is for them to be disabled, but in other words we are being asked to sit back and  take it. It’s ruining games, and for those that are unsure about adding a subscription to their account. I understand the mechanics of Free 2 play. It’s giving you an option to try something before you buy it. I like that, but there should be even more restrictions to help curve these morons that want to ruin gaming for everyone. I’m sorry I’m trying not to call names, but this is one thing that just gets me. But as a subscriber to SW:ToR I’m just losing my patience with the amount of spam one person can take. Now sure about the rest of the community, well yeah, cause I frequent the forums on SWTOR Community Forums and find threads upon threads about this. So yeah the subscribers are getting annoyed with it. I was happy to read that they took down one of the largest credit spammers in SW, but now this, you think curving the path one way would want to stop it, instead these so called hack jobs just find a new way to annoy us even more. I can see how they are whispering to us. Stand on either the fleet, or planets, type in random letters and what not in the “WHO” tab for each planet, and finding us. But still we need more responces, and protection from these spammers. I don’t agree with how things are handled at this moment with them. You crush one, you bring in another not to long after. Reminds me of stink bugs, how if you accidently kill one, you end up with 20 more in it’s place. stinkbug_285 To me these spammers remind me of said STINK BUG!!!!!
